Sometimes the photographic image is a tool or a record, sometimes it is an end in itself; and sometimes it may lead to other ideas, other images, other explorations.
Taking a photograph is more than pressing the shutter. It is an act of selection - why this subject, this moment, why point the camera that way? It is also a thoughtful act – what idea am I exploring?
Most of my photographs are in black and white. The work of making gives me time to think.
